Druid’s Social.
Thx first of a series of winter socials, under the auspics of the U.A.0.1X was held in the Public Hall the other evening. There were about 40 couples present. The floor was in good order, and splendid dance music was contributed by the Te Aroha Trio (Miss Faes, piano, Mr Buchan, comet, and Mr Mclnman, violin). Bros. G. Deverell and H. Keesing officiated as M.O’a and carried out their duties in a way that left nothing to be denied. Strangers, and there were a number present, were made to ft •' at home, and speak well of -the manner in which the social was conducted. Very few “ wall-flowers ” were noticeable, and during several donees we noticed everyone in the room gliding around tripping the light fantastic. A most recherche supper was provided by the ladies. Extras were'played by Mrs Kell, Miss Stanley, Mr Wilter, Mrs Butler; while songs were contributed by Mr Bullock, accompanied by Mr Butler. The Brethren desire to tender their | thanks to the ladies who were so i kind as to help, more especially to the Mayoress (Mrs R. L, Somers) and Mesdames Deverell and Stanley.
