OUR MAYOR AND COUNCILLORS
Sir, —I noticed the following paragraph in your paper of Saturday last, to which I take strong exception, as I consider such is not the case :—“ The Returning Officer for the Borough of Te Aroha notifies that the annual election of Mayor for the Borough of Te Aroha will be held on the 29th inst. The Burgesses of this Borough are so thoroughly satisfied with the excellent results achieved by the present Council, under the able guardianship of the present Mayor (R. L. Somers, Esq.), that there is very little probability of an election taking place.” Now, sir, the burgesses, as a whole, are not satisfied with the work done by the present civic authorities. I, for one, am disgusted with th® whole lot. What have they done ? I should like to know. It is a oneman Council. “ Results achieved,” ugh ! it makes me sick to think of it. You, Mr Editor, will find when the 22nd comes there will be more than one out for the Mayoralty. We have not forgotten the bridge and the closing of the streets episodes so soon, Hoping you will put this in. —I am, etc., 1 Reform.
