To Aroha Gymnastic Club.

• V ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Te Aroha Gymnastic Club was held Vin the Public Hall on Monday evening last at. 8 o’clock. . " There was a good attendance, and| in the absence of the President (His* Worship the Mayor R. L. S jmers Esq.), and of the vice-president (Mr A. F. Burton), through another engagement, Mr F. A. Harris was Voted to the chair. j The minutes of last meeting, held ! 27th August, 1907, were read and confirmed. , The treasurer read the report and balance sheet as follows: 1 1 : i

The balance-sheet showed an improved financial year, with a credit balance of £4 tjs 9d. On the motion of Messrs F. W. Harris aDd W. Quane it was received and adopted. 'The Secretary reported on the condition of the apparatus and the cost of probable repairs, also giving a list of the Club’s property. He advised having the necessary repairs put in hand immediately so that the Club could make a start on the first Monday in May. In concluding his report the Secretary congratulated the Club on their entering their 12th continuous year 'of existence; this he thought was a record for Te Aroha, and anticipated for the ensuing year both a prosperous and profitable season. , , Election of officers for'the ensuing season.—Patron: W. H. Herries, Esq., M.P. (re-elected); President: R. L. Somers, Esq. (re-elected); Vice-Presidents: Messrs J. A. Young ; A. F, Burton (re-elected); Hon. Auditor : Mr P. Gilchrist (reelected); Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, Mr F. A. Harris (reelected); Committee : Messrs R. Brennan, W. Quane, T. Wilkes, F. W. Harris, T. Gavin.

The club decided to accept, with thanks, Messrs Tom Donovan and J. B. Johnson’s kind offer re mattresses, and instructed the Secretary to procure other necessaries at once. I It was resolved to hold practices on Monday evenings, the first to be an open night, to be the first Monday in May. The, annual subscription was fixed' at ■ per season.

Mr W. Paultridge was appointed Hon. Instructor for the ensuing season. His Worship the Mayor (R. L. Somers, Esq.) has donated a gold medal to be competed for during the season. ,

Seeing the great expense the club would be put so this year through having to renew so much -of the ' apparatus, it was decided on the Opening Night to draw up an interesting programme of vocal, instrumental, and gymnastic items, to conclude with a dance, and to charge Is admission ; fuller particulars of which will appear later, j Hearty votes of thanks to the Mayor ; for his donation; the Te Aroha Trio; | those who assisted at the annual social; and also to the Officers ’of the Club for their services, was carried by acclamation. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
