FURTHER WRECKAGE AT THE BARRIER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This DayThe Northern Company’s steamer Chelmsford arrived from the Great Barrier early yesterday morning, after a search round the island for any tidings of the missing barque Constance Craig, which sailed from Gisborne for Hokianga on July 12 th to load timber for Sydney. > The Chelmsford, having on board Mr -Bridger, formerly chief officer of the Constance Craig, left Auokland late on Wednesday night, reaching the Barrier early Thursday morning. Captain Hunken made a .very careful search all round the island, but saw nothing of any castaways. : % At Owanga the portions of the wreckage from the Constance Craig, * which came ashore at that place, and were found by Mr Paddison, were handed over to Captain Hunken to \ bring to-Auckland. They consist of portions of the wheel-box, with the vessel’s name on.
At Whangaparapa a hatch and a boat’s chock were picked up. Mr Bridger identified the hatch as belonging to the Constance Craig. > Captain Hunken was informed that 1 some other wreckage had come sshore at the northern end of the , island, which, as it was fitted with brass -"/ rods, is supposed to have been part of \ a skylight of the vessel. „ The wreckage was to be handed over to the Collector of Customs to-day.
