Professional Footballers.
(By Telegraph— Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Twenty-two men have been selected for the professional team, 15 of whom left for Sydney yesterday and several more are expected to join. Their names are Turtill, Lavery, D. McGregor, Pearce (Canterbury), Smith, Todd, R. Wynyard, Rowe, W. Tyler, Trevarthen, Makerell (Auckland), VVrigley (Wairarapa), Baskiville, Callum, Watkins, Lile, Gilchrist (Wellington), Cross, Wright, Kelly, Tyne, Byrne (Petone). Only three “ All Blacks,” Smith, McGregoi and Mackerell are in the team, whipft is regarded as weak, and much in* ferior to predecessors. SYDNEY, YesterdayAt a meeting of footballers ested in the professional movement •- it was decided to form a News South Wales league. It is stated thareigh senior clubs were represent, including a nnmber of first-grade players. All present signed a document agreeing to play against tbeNewZwland professional team. The statement was made at the meeting that SQjno leading players and supporters had received intimation from their employers that they must either forego their positions or professionalism.
