In the Legislative Council a motion was passed directing that the Standing Orders he amended so that the Speaker and Chairman of Committees should be elected in a more businesslike way. Hon. Scotlandmoved that the councillors be paid the same as the other Chamber, but the previous question was moved and the proposal killed.
