Cook’s Pictures.
In our advertising columns there appears a preliminary of the approaching visit of Cook’s pictures on Tuesday, July 16tli. Mr Sydney Cook, the proprietor, who is also cenemetographist to several of the State Governments, visited New Zealand last year with a picture company, and was everywhere favoured with large audiences; the entertainments then being far above the ordinary, but since that time Mr Cook has visited all the leading cities of the Commonwealth, and comes to us direct from a successful season at the Melbourne Town Hall, where he has been exhibiting all the latest inovations in the realms of animated art. The projecting apparatus is claimed to be the most powerful in the colonies, and the press notices to hand fully justify this claim. In addition to producing a large and clear picture, the machine is said to do its work absolutely without flicker. The pictures to be shown are new, being the latest productions from the laboratories of London, New York and Paris, and embrace every phrase of humour, pathos and sensationalism. Coloured pictures are a leading speciality. Beautiful illustrated picture songs will add interest and variety to the entertainment, while mechanical and orchestral effects accompany the pictures. Future engagements limit the present season to one night, and all lovers of good, bright and enjoyable entertainment should make up their minds to see this show. Popular prices are being charged.
