The Main Trunk Line.

PROPOSED PARLIAMNTARY TRIP. Considerable interest is being evinced by members of both Houses in the projected Parliamentary trip over the route of the North Island Main Trunk railway, which is being organised by Mr Reming ton, member for Rangitikei. It is proposed to leave Wellington on the morning of Friday, the 19th inst., to reach Raetihi on Friday night, and Taumarunui on Saturday night; travel to Onehunga by special train on Sunday, and thence take the steamer to New Plymouth, thus reaching Wellington on Monday evening. Up to the present 26 members of the Lower House and 10 members of the Legislative Council have signified their intention of taking part in the excursion. More than half of these members hail from the South Island. 15 members of the House and six members of the Council being Southern representatives.

The trip should thus have a useful educative influence in making members from the South more conversaut with the line than they have been in the past.
