Riots in France.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

PARIS, This Day. In connection with the trouble in the wine districts, many attempts have been made to incite to revolt and threats to burn the property of those Mayors failing to resign, and such taxpayers as satisfy the tax-gatherers demand. The Chamber of Deputies recognise the gravity of the situation and heartily supported M. Clemincean in his d< claration. Orders have been given for legal action to pursue its course, and added that the State must be supreme and normal in the regular working of the administrative. Judical machinery is to be restore d, and he had put a national force at the disposal of -the law. He would avoid bloodshed as far as possible, but when there was an insurrection against the law in the departments, and when local separatist committees prof ssed to take the government’s place, and any sort of provincial government enforced resignations by intim dation, the law must be applied. M. Sarrant remarked that when c ‘nciliation failedj M, Ciemencean said the law must prevail, and as a Frenchman I acknowledga he is right, but my resignation will promote pacification as the offenders are old comrades of mine, brothers in arms, who I advise to trust the republic and revert to legal methods. (Cheers),
