Te Aroha High School.
At the meeting of the School Committee last night Mr Wallace brought forwaed the question of a High School for Te Aroha, and Mr Burton was asked for his opinion on the matter. Mr Burton said there were a number of children going to the Hamilton and Paeroa High Schools at present, and he mentioned a number of cases of children who had lef L school who would go to such a school, and there a number of others who would take advantage of further education. It would be necessary to have an average attendance of twenty scholars who had passed Standard VI. It would be necessary to approach the Education Board which would probably instruct its inspector to report. He said that the attendance at the High School would count in the school average, which would entitle them to another teacher. The Waihou School Committee had been trying for the last two years to get a high school without success.
Mr Wallace moved, and the Chairman seconded, that they ascertain the number of pupils obtainable in Te Aroha and Waihou, and see if they could obtain enough to form a high school at Te Aroha.
The motion was carried unanimously.
