Te Aroha Young Men’s Club.
There was a good attendance of young men at the meeting of the Te Aroha Debating Society in the Public Hall last night, Mr Burton occupying the. chair. It was deckled to change the name of the society to the Te Aroha Young Men’s Club. The rules as submitted by the subcommittee, with several amendments, were adopted, and it was decided that the social aspect of the club be deferred for one month. The following officers were elected : President, Eev Cowie; vice-presi-dents, EevsEobertson and Dukes, and Mr Burton ; secretary, Mr J. Wild; treasurer, Mr Mairs; committee. Messrs Steele, Spooner and F. Harris, and the officers ex officio. It was decided to meet fortnightly, and Monday, June 24, was fixed as the opening night, when the meeting will be hold in the Public Hall, to which the public are invited; the programme to consist of a debate, limited to 45 minutes, a paper of ten minutes, and readings, recitations and musical items.
