School Committee.
A meeting of the Te Aroba Committee was held last night, their being present: Dr. Kenny (in the chair), Messrs Wallace, Hardwicke and Sherlock, and the headmaster, Mr A. F. Burton.
The Education Department notified that they could not see their way to instal the electric light in the Headmaster’s In use
The llevs. Bobertsoa and Dukes wrote in regard to reading the Bible in the school, and it was decided to grant their request Mrs Goodwin wrote resigning her position as caretaker, owing to ill-health. It was decided to accept Mrs Nielioll’s offer of £25 for twelve months.
A letter was received from Mrs Watts thanking the Committee for their kind expressions of sympathy in regard to her husband’s death. The Education Board notified that owing to the death of Mr M atts (the Board’s architect) the application for a grant for improvements would be held over.
The Inspector’s report was held over f v a full meeting of the Committee, likewise the Headmaster’s report. A proposition by Mr "Wallace that the Committee meet once a month regularly was held over. Be the Headmasters request, for improvements in and about the school grounds, the Committee instructed the Headmaster to take what steps bethought sup able for an entertainment to raise funds.
It was resolved that the Committee attend the saluting of the thur in the School e-rounds on Thursday, at .'J o’clock. The monthly report showed that the number of children attending school was ‘221, and the average attendance 185.
