Revising the Tariff.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Local Industrial Association, after some months deliberation and discussion, has sent in a report to the Government which empodies the decisions arrived at. The report includes the recommendations received from other Associations. Generallyspeaking, it is in favour of taking off or reducing the tariff on some articles of food, as sugar for instance, by 3 per cent. To protect the engineering industry a tariff of thirtythree and a-third per cent is suggested to he levied on machinery which can now be made with advantage in the colony, through patents having expired.- An increase ,is recommended on candles, the manufacture of which is said to be languishing under the present tariff. ~
