Ladies’ Hockey Club Social.
A social under the auspices of the Te Aroha Ladies’ Hockey Club was held in the Public Hall last night, and was a great success, there being fully fifty couples on the floor The Hall was nicely decorated with tree ferns ■ and flags and the stage was fitted up as a cardroom for the benefit of those who were not in the mood for dancing, and was fully taken advantage of. The floor, as usual, was in a first-class state and falls were the order of the evening. The dance broke up shortly after one o’clock. I The ladies’ committee worked hard to ensure the enjoyment of all present
and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves thoroughly. The following ladies formed the committee : Mesdames Somers (president), Hardwicke Edwards, Deverell, ILeathcote, Spooner and Misses Spooner, Heallicote, Patterson, Hare and Gordon, with Miss Webb as secretary. Mr Deverell carried out the duties of M.C. in an efficient manner, and the orchestra consisting of Miss Paes (piano), and Messrs Mclnman (violin) and Buchan (cornet), gave a very satisfactory programme of music.
During an in'erval a choice supper was handed round by the ladies. During the evening an expression was given in the Hall, that as this social had been such a success, the ladies’ committee would see their way clear to continue the socials during the winter months.
