Mount Ruapehu.
NOTHING SERIOUS
A party which left Waiouru on Wednesday to make the ascent of Ruapehu, and investigate the phenomenon, experienced had weather. After leaving the mountain house, they journeyed on foot, reaching the snow line. Continued bad weather deterred them from making further investigation, and they retreated. From the observation gained the gentlemen are satisfied that the recent disturbance was of no serious nature, either volcanic as thermal, and that the colony can rest in peace that old Ruapehu’s belchings are of the mildest nature. Those who made the ascent were Dr. Patterson and Mr A. Paterson of the Government Life Insurance Department.
