ADVOCATES CHEAP LOANS.

TAURANGA This Day. Replying to an application for a subsidy on a loan raised by the County for bridges, Hon. J. V Millar said he personally was opposed to. the subsidy system altogether, believing the Government should lend money tor public works to local bodies at I2 aer cent and make up the difference from the Consolidated Fund. The counties would rate themselves accordingly and money would be more carefully spent.
