NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day.

The body of Mr E. M. Smith, M.H.R., was buried yesterday with full military honours. The funeral was the largest ever seen in Taranaki. People poured in from the country districts, and it is estimated that close upon ten thousand witnessed the funeral. The pall-bearers were the Hon. W. Hall-Jones, J Carroll, R. McNab, and Messrs Jenkins, Major and Symes. A large number of members both of the House and of the Legislature were present. All the local bodies were fully represented. The cortege took twenty-five minutes to pass a given point. Telegrams of condolence have been received from all parts of the colonv, and one from Sir Joseph Ward.
