Correspondence.

;Ve do not hold ourselves responsible for the opinions expressed by our correspondents. [To the Editor.] Hir, —Seeiug that we have six new men seeking municipal honours, I think it is only right that we should have their policy stated either from the platform or through the press. There are questions that will demand the serious consideration of those whom the ratepayers consider fit to govern us during the next three years. . The first and most important question is the fact that Mr Ciosher, the Borough electrician has stated that the electrical plant is now i running up to ninety per cent, and cannot possibly do any more. It will be for the in-coming gentlemen to tell us liow 1 this is going to he remedied. I should also like to hear their views as to whether it, in the best interests of the Borough to keep on paying rent for. the wretched accommodation provided in the present 14 x 12 room which does duty as a Council chamber. Whilst we are content to put up with such cramped Borough Chambers, it is useless to talk to the Government about railway station or post office accommodation. I feel safe in saying that no other borough in New Zealand transacts its business in such premises. The traffic bridge is another serious consideration, and should not. be dealt with in a Little Peddlington spirit. The surrounding country is being rapidly settled, and it is unreasonable for the settlers to be expected to continue using the piesont railway bridge in order to reach Te Aroha. I hope the policy of the gentlemen in question, will include the making of our town moi'e attractive from a visitor’s p lint of view. The question of doing something with the river bank, should no longer be delayed, and every improvement calculated to attract and retain visitors should be carefully studied by the Council. Trusting those gentlemen who are seeking honours will give us definitely their policies, —I am, etc., Ratepayer.
