S. Mark’s Vestry.

SPECIAL MEETING,

A special meeting of S Mark’s Vestry was held at the rectory on Tuesday evening for the purpose of dealing with the money raised by the recent baz lar held in the Public Tlall. Present: Rev. E. M. Cowie, Messrs R. L. Somers (vicar’s warden), F. G. Pavitt (people’s warden). W. W. Maiugay and Doctor Kenny. At the present time £lO7 10s is the actual amount owiug on the church building. Mr Cowie stated that Mr Bruce had very kindly consented to act as treasurer pro tom. for the bazaar funds. As far as could be yet ascertained, the gross takings at the bazaar were £165. from which about £o expenses had yet to be deducted. On the motion of Mr Pavitt, seconded by Dr, Kenny, it was resolved that the loan on church and interest thereon, be paid forthwith up-to-date. On the motion of Mr Maiugay, seconded by Mr Somers, Mr F. G McGfirr w;is elected honoiary secretary and treasurer.

On the motion of Mr Pavitt, seconded by Mr Somers, it was resolved that a banking account be opened with the Bank of New Zealand, to he operated upon by the Hon. Treasurer and Vicar’s Warden, The question of applying some of the surplus funds to repairing aud painting the churchyard railings was brought up but left to the incoming vestry. The Vicar was authorised to engage a person to clean the church at former rates. It was stated that the £lO raised by. the “ Song of the Bell ” concert bad been seal to the Stipend and Pension Fund, for which purpose the concert had been org nised. Mr Maiugay suggested that a delegate frem each of the outlying districts should attend each quarterly meeting. It was agreed that the suggestion was a good one, but the matter was dropped, Dr Fenny, on behalf of the Vertry, proposed a beany vote of thanks to the presidents and members of the guilds and other stallholders, and also to the ladies who organised and managed the visitors’ stall, and that they be congratulated on the success attending their valuable efforts.

This was seconded by Mr Pavitt and carried unanimously.
