Imperial Conference.

OPENING TO BE PRIVATE. FREE TRADE FOR INDIA. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) LONDON, Yesterday. It is officially announced that the opening of the Imperial Conference will be private, Lord Elgin presiding. After delivering his address Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman withdrew. All the Premiers excepting Mr Bond, who has not arrived, will attend, also the Colonial Ministers present in London. * Lord Reay announces that Bannerman will appoint as representative in India probably Sir J. L. Mackay, to attend the Colonial Conference. He will support free trade for India. Lord Reay thinks that he will prove a hard nut for the Premier to crack. # , Mr Deakin is amused at the incident.
