Dr. 3fason, ohief Health Officer, in . gumming up precautions for the prevent '4 • ion of the spread of consumption says:— , Tuberculosis is an infectious disease and therefore ought to be a notifiable disease. Expectorating in the public streets ought to be a punishable offence. Any house or room which has been • occupied by a person suffering from coniomption ought to be thoroughly dis - infected before being occupied by anyone ■■ ;olse, •_ & No one ought to sleep in the sapie bed or room, if possible. with a persdifouffer- 3 jug from consumption. • All expectoration from an affected per son ought to be burnt The practice of Spitting on handkerchiefs or on the floor ought not to be allowed. The affected person ought eitherto spit into a spittoon which contains some moist disinfectant, or on pieces of rag which can be thrown into the fire; So long as the expectoration is kept moist there is no great danger of infection to others. *
