Crozets Castaways Return
LIVED ON FOOD 27 YEARS OLD. (By Telegraph—'Pres® Association..) HOBART, This Day. The Turakina brought eleven of the crew of the schooner Catherine which was wrecked on Crozet Island on December 14th last. When the Turakina touched the island en route from Capetown the men were found in a bad state of health owing to subsisting on penguins’ and albatrosses' eggs, sea elephant, and food placed on the island by the British Government 27 years ago. The latter was not very wholesome but they got used to it. A bottle of whisky washed ashore was kept for Christmas Day, When they arrived in Hobart they were provided with clothing and necessary comforts. [At the time of the wreck, the captain and two men left in a boat to get assistance, and after nine days were picked up by a vessel bound for Mel bourne, Ths rest of the crew were reported safe on. the islands, and the Turakina was instructed to call for them.] __________
