M.U. Oddfellows.

The usual fortnightly meeting of tlic Loyal Hot Springs Lodge was held in the Lodge room, Rewi-street hist Thursday evening. Correspondence . From the . Duke of Cambridge Lodge, Cambridge, notifying the Lodge that owing to unfor-em circumstances, they had to postpone their official visit to Te Aroha. From a Southern Lodge in reference to the “ clearance ” of a member.

The Cambridge Lodge forwarded complimentary tickets for their annual social. Two candidates for membership were elected and duly initiated. Sick pay was passed to one member. In reference to the official visit of the Cambridge Lodge being postponed the subcommittee appointed to make arrangements reported that they had . almost completed their preparations for a smoke social, consequently it was decided to go on with it in honour of the newly-initiated members and the sub-committee were allowed to retire to complete their arrangements. After further business had been dealt with tho Lodge was closed. , A few minutes sufficed for laying out the tables and loading them with good. things and proceedings were commenced with the toast of “ The King,” proposed by the Chairman, with the singing of the National Anthem. P. G. Bro. G. Sherlock proposed the “ Manchester Unity,'' responded to by P. G. Brother Hubbard. Toast, “The Visitors and Sister Lodges,” was responded to by the visitors present on behalf of thenrespective lodges. Toast, “The Guests, was responded to on their behalf by Bro, O. Wallis. Toast, “The sick and distressed of the Order.” Songs were given during the evening by Bros. G. Dews (2), Graf and Dierck, and Bro. G. Sherlock contributed a humorous story. Altogether a most enjoyable evening was spent.
