AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKET. Auckland, Oct. 4. Horses have been in stesidy demand, those of a tgood stamp being insufficient for the requirements. ‘An average number was entered for disposal by auction at the Durham yards on Friday. Bidding fluctuated. We quote:—Heavy draughts, at from£29 10s to £4l; medium do., £‘2l to £3l 10s; light harness horses, £lO 10s to £2O; hacks, £5 10s to £lB 15 s. At the Newmarket yards on Tuesday dairy and store stock were yarded in usual numbers. Dairy cows sold at from £4 10s to £7 ; empty do., £l 16s to £3 I7s6d; calves, £1 Is to £2 3s. Fat s'ock was penned; in average numbers and competition was keen, the market showing a decided improvement. Ox beef sold up to 25s per 1001 b; cow, 18s to 225. Steers sol iat from £6 10s to £li 2s Gd; cows, £4 10s to £8 ss. A draft of 25 steers average ! £lO 16s. Sheep : At Newmarket on Tuesday sheep were penned in usual numbers and met a brisk sale at late rates, wethers selling at from £l 3s 6d to £1 15s, ewes £1 3s to£l 12s, hoggets 17s 9d to 19s 6d, lambs at from 16s 6d to 18s Pigs: Porkers brought from 17s 6d to 28s 9d; weaners 8s 6d to 15s 6d. Sheepskins : Market firm. Best butchers’ skins, picked, 6s 9d to 10s 6d ; medium, 5s 6d to 6s 3d ; small 3s 6d to ss; lambs, Is to 2s. Bones, £B. Cowtails, Is 6d a dozen. Horsehair, Is to Is 6d. Wool: Crossbred, 7d to 9pi; pieces, 3f-d to 6d; crutchings, 3kl to s£d. Maize: Market firm at 3s 3d on wharf for wholesale lines. Oats : Market is very firm at 2s 3d c.i.f. for wholesale lines. Chaff: Prime samples soiling at £4 15s to £5 c.i.f. Potatoes: Hobarts, £l2 10s to £l3. Cheese : Market bare. Factory, 40’s, s£d ; loaf, 6d. • Butter. Separator, lOd good 9d to 9£-d.
