Waitoa Road Board.

The usual monthly meeting of the AVaitoa Road Board was held at the County Office, Morrinsville, on Saturday last. Present: Messrs AV. P. Chepmell (Chairman), T. Hinton, AV, Taylor, S. Bellamy, and T. Hughes. Minutes were read and confirmed. Gate on Kereone Road. —Mr AV. Aitken wrote.stating that he lifid removed the dangerous gate on the Kereone road, and requested permission to erect another. It was decided that all the members should meet Mr Aitken on the spot at 10 a.m. on AVednesday (to-morrow.) Telegraph Poles on Road. —The Clerk reported that the telegraph poles had been shifted back seven feet, but the liron standards had not been replaced by wooden ones. It was resolved that the Clerk write to the Inspector requesting that the iron poles be faced with wood. Lockerbie Roads.—A letter was read from Mr Swarbrick stating that he was , getting on with the test case, which would be taken at the next Court sittings. It was proposed and carried that the Chairman interview Mr Swarbrick and have the matter settled at once.

Transfers. Applications from Messrs Mackie and AVa'llis were received stating that they had purchased Mr Manson’s property, and requested a transfer.—From Mr AV. A. James, stating that ho had sold section 2, Morrinsville, to Mr S. Parlour, and had bought section 50 from Mr E. Devy.—Trans-

fers granted. Road Metal.—A letter was read from Mr T. Ronayne, General Manager, stating that with reference to that portion, of the Board’s letter of the 31st ult., in which a request that the Railway Department should supply the Board with a quantity of broken inetal free of charge for placing on Canada-street and the Morrinsville-Iviwitahi road, he had the honour, by direction of the Minister of Railways, to inform the Beard that as the maintenance of these roads devolves purely on the local body he regrets that he cannot see his wav to comply with the request. Railway Crossing.—A letter was received from W. if. Herries, Esq., M.H.R. stating that Iho would have pleasure in supporting the Boards’s application to ihe Minister for Railways for a crossing near Bosson’s. Foreman Mannion reported on works done and those required. He asked for a man for a month to make the necessary repairs to roads. —Request granted. Foreman Parr report ed on works in progress, and asked for a man for a few days, and to bo allowed the use of road machine for two weeks.—The man was granted for one week and the foreman was authorised tj em-
