The Te Aroha School Committee will meet on Tuesday night next, 19rh ins;. at 7.30 pm. Mr Hart’s auction sale will be continued in the Theatre on Monday and Tuesday afternoons at 2 p.m. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Piako County Council will be held in the Council chambers, Morriusville, ou Monday next at 9.30. We • hear that the N.Z.D.A. is about to enlarge their creamery at Manawaru, and will put in a new boiler and two additional separators. The meeting of the Piako Ratepayers, Reform Association, postponed from Wednesday;4ast, will be held in the Mauawaru School, Aratiatia, ou Monday next, at 7,30We regret to report that Mr. Wharton Thompson, who has rec-ntly taken up his abode in To Aroha, is confined to his bed through sickness. Mr Thompson possosses musical talent of the highest order, having occupied tho positions of pro lessor of pianoforte, harmony, and theory, at ilio South Melbourne College for two years; afterwards filling the position of organist and choir - master at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Echucu, for a period of four years. Mr Thompson is preparing to rocoivo pupils in all tho branches of which ho is master, and wo feel sure everyone will join in wishing him a speedy recovery. Thoso interested in tho new departures recontly made by local business houses will bo pleased to hoar that Monday, August 28th has boon announced as bonus day by Messrs Johnson and Wigg.—Advt. Mr Moss, M.H.R, (Ohinemuri) recently asked in the House what steps were being taken by the Government in the ma. er of giving a better title in Lipseytown, by way of purchasing the Native interests or otherwise.

In reply, the Native Minister stated taat negotiations with the native owners for the purchase of Lipseytown, Te Aroha, have been in progress for si,me lime past, and it is hoped that they will be brought to a satisfactory conclusion within the ensuiug month.
