Gordon Notes.
[Our own Correspondent.] Butter-fat is the talk here once more, and a big supply is expected at the local creamery. Mr Brady, who has taken over Mr Cox’s place, has increased his herd to upwards of 150 cows. Two new suppliers, Mr Baskerville and Mr Johnstone, will help to swell the average. Spring is making i self felt, and a good season is pre dieted, [From a Correspondent.] During the past winter things have of course been somewhat dormant here, but now|a considerable awakening is manifesting itself in many ways. The cows are at present coming in very fast, and a good season is hopefully looked for. Another local indus try which will be of great benefit to this district, is the flax mill belonging to Messrs Sutiie Bros., which will commence running in the course of about two weeks. A rather lively incident happened on the Saturday night previous to las'-, at a meeting of the Gordon Social Committee. Two of the membeis indulged in a wordy warfare as to whether a dance should be held or not. The oppositionist however, was subdued, and it was decided to hold the dance on the evening of Friday, 22nd inst. Additional settlers keep arriving hefie and more buildings are in consequence being erected. Mr Jack Montague, who for nearly five weeks has been in the Hamilton Hospital suffering from a poisoned hand, returned homo a few days ago.
