Waihou sale tomorrow. Parade of stallions at eleven a'm. We notice that Hothermgton. and Co. drapers, are busily engaged opening up their new spring goods. Waitoa concert to-night. Brake leaves Mr Bradley’s stables at 6,30 Refreshments provided at Waitoa. The ordinary weekly Band Social was held lust evening in the Public Hall, and, as usual, a very enjoyable' evening was spent by all who attended. In another space M H. Crease noti fies the w:uuer of the guinea for a name competition. Tbe name chosen was “Suav-amo,” signifying love of softness. The euccessiu competitor was Mrs Edwin Edwards, of Paeroa. A large number of names were re - ceived from all over the place, including Auckland and all ou lying district. Mr Crease intends to keep re. coras of all names sent in and should he at any time use any of them he will forward 5s to the sender of same. j

Those interested in the new departures recently made by local business houses will be pleased to hear that Monday, August 28th has been announced as bonus day by Messrs Johnson and Wigg.—Advt. Mr Ho| kns the Government bee expert, was visiting bee-ke"pers in Te Aroha aud Shaft sbury districts last Tuesday. Mr Cottrell’s apiary was the object of a visit, from Mr Hopkins, and was found to be doing very well, and producing excellent honey, everything being particularly up-to-date. Mr Cotterell. is very much in favour of (he Foul Brood Act, and says that if the Act is passed, he intends to extend his apiary in a very large scale, but that if the Act is rejected, he will on no account exceed one hundred hives. Mr Hopkins states that as reg irds quality, the honey from the Shaftesbury district is of the very best.

Hart, auctioneer of Auckland, having received a consignment of a number of cases of assorted goods from the buyers of a bankrupt stock of a Sydney firm, has decided to hold a public auction on Saturday next at, 2 p.m. in the Theatre. In order to facilitate the absolute clearance of the whole consignment, absolutely no reserve will be placed on the goods, and from the fact that the successful tender was at the ridiculous low figure of 5s in the £, the auctioneer is enabled to hold a genuine auction sale when each and overy lot submitted will positively be sold.
