Karangahake Minstrels.
Te Aroha was last night favoured by a visit of the Karangahake Mins • trel troupe, who gave their performance in the Public Hall, to a wellfilled house. Mr Woodward, as centreman, was supported by an excellent company of ten others, who combined to keep up a supply of mirth and drollery during the wh>de evening. Some good local hits and original c >- nundrutns were made. The ch >rua, however, is the mainstay of the troupe, and several plantation and others mgs were well rendered, the repertory also containing a very suitable selection of recent vocal compositions. A number of effective solos were also given, contributors including Mr Jas McGregor, and Mr Rox Woodward, the latter being especially at home in his wellchosen humorous selections. A song and dance by Mr A Y >ung, and banjo solo by Mr W Moody, were followed by a laughable sketch entitled 4 Laughing Gas.” Dancing concluded the evening’s entertainment. Mrs McGregor played the pianoforte accompaniments in an extremely finished and pleasing style.
