Mangaiti Notes

The Board of Education has granted the fouoding of a school at Mangaiti, and accepted the offer of Mr. Ohas. Mace, of a school building rent free for twelve months. The opening for a teacher is now being advertised in Auckland, and it is now expected that the school will' be *re idy to receive scholars early in October. The open' ing of this school will be a great boon to settlers with young childre.i, and will remove an obstacle which may previously have prevented many from settling in the vicinity. It has been decided that a new ?6ad bridge is to be erected just above the ferry site: the Government has granted a loan to the county, and an early start on the work is contemplated. The creamery is now in full swing, with a good number of supplieis, who seem to be well satisfied with the prospects of the coming season. The recent spell of good weather has been of great benefit to the farmers, who have been enabled to get, well on with their work.

An agitation for a post-office is now on foot; no communication, however, has yet been made to the Government, but Mangaiti is now showing signs of considerable expansion and must be encouraged in its growth by the granting of all reasonable facilities.
