At the meeting of the Borough Council last Wednesday it wai recommended to the Works Committee that a stream of water which at present runs into the creek near the Hot Springs' Hotel, should be turned into the ; sewer., .. The matter of the chemists’ petition for exemption from the Shops and Offices Act was dropped, the chemists preferring to remain as at present with regard to closing hours, pending the possibility of the Exemption Act now before the House, being made law.

Accounts totalling L 299 16s 2d were passed for payment at this meeting, and this sum added to the previous overdraft of L 429 Is Id in excess of the limit allowable, gives a total overdraft of L 728 17s 3d, or a total of L2B 17s 3d in excess of the limit fixed.
