Britain’s Coal Supply.
Reports to hand show that the Coal Tax, recently introduced in Great Britain, of one shilling r ton on exported coal, is causing serious distress in those districts where the coal is of lowquality, esp* cially in Scotland, where the output is decreasing rapidly, and large numbers of colliers are vrith out work. The act was introduced with a view to limiting to some extent the export of coal which is exhausting the home supplies and bo hastening the time when British commercial supremacy will be threatened.
