[By Telegraph.—Press Association.] WAIHI G. M. CO. Auckland, This Dav. The Waihi G. M. Co. has declared a dividend of 3s per share, equal to £75,000, ARBITRATION COURT. Auckland, This Day. The Arbitration Court has inflicted penalties amounting to £65 and costs for breach of underpaying firemen.
BREACH OF ELECTORAL ACT. , Auckland, This Day.
D. B. MacDonald, J.P., was fined £lO and costs £3 9s for a breach of the electoral law, for signing his name as a witness to a woman’s claim for enrolment as an elector without hearing her declare same. Mrs Newman had left the colony on' a holiday on April 17, and the claim presented with her signature and witnesses in June. At the same time her husband in person declared his own claim before MacDonald.
A SCOW SWAMPED. Auckland, This Dav. The scow Flora dragged her anchor alongside the railway wharf last night and capsized and was swamped. MORE CARNEGIE MONEY. Christchurch. This Dny Carnegie has offered £4OOO for a library at Sydenham, if the Council will find a site and £258 per annum to carry it on. A PRISONER COMPLAINS. Christchurch, this day. A prisoner on trial at the Supreme Court complained that he had been snbjected to medical examination f>v a particular purpose against his will, and the result withheld from him. Judge Dennison warned the authorities this was improper, and the jury added a rider protesting against it.
