The fourth trial of Herbert Pc irson, charged wLin oiimiual aseau t on a married woman named Beuthat Cam bridge ou October 16th last ye a was begun yesterday before the Chief Justice. Iu the o .ui-e of the hearing, Mr Lundon, counsel for pr sonor, handed Mrs Beuth a wa-ch and chain, to Avhich was at'aimed a penny with the initials “L. B. to H. P. ’ site said her initials were L, A. B, The Judge asked her if she had been asked about this before and when told n. ” said it was most extraordinary, and a grave reflection on prisoner or his counsel now, for the first time, to sugg< s; that this coin was given by the woman ro Pearson. Mr Lundon said he was not to blame, extraordinary things had happened in this case. The hearing was not finished yesterday.
