THIRD TEST MATCH. [By Telegraph Press Associaton.] London, July 4. Delightful weather prevails and there is a large attendance. The wicket is faster, aud does not appear easy. The Australians are all out for 195. England’s second innings one wicket for 113. Later. London, July 4 After the dismissal of Fry, Hayward and Byldesley were associated, but the excellence of the bowling and smart fielding helped to keep the game quiet. Hayward took his total to 50, as the result of two hour’s play, and then for half-an-hour never scored a run. Tyldesley was however quietly pegging away, at 126 lost Hayward who was caught at mid off. Denton assisted to carry total to 169 which itistood when play ceased for the day, Tyldesley gave a couple of chances. on 9 iha • 1 on 9at the wickets when only a single had been scored and the other to Armstrong off his own bowling when 18. The additional scores are : Hayward 60 Tyldesley, (not out) 62. Denton, (not out) 11, sundries 6. Two wickets for 168.
ENGLAND DECLARED INNINGS CLOSED.
FIVE WICKETS FOR 295. The Latest. London, July 5. Lovely weather, but smaller attendance. England has declared innings closed with five wickets down for 295. The Australians in their second innings lost seven wickets for 199. ° London, July 5. Denton was soon dismissed, and Jackson did not remain long—four for 202 ; Hirst and Tyldesley continued free ’ cricket, but both had lives at Armstrong’s haads, the former when 18 and the latter 82. Tyldesley was hit in the groin by Armstrong, and plav interrupted for a time When Tyld sley had just .brought up hi« century he was stumped--5 for 258. This 1 ft Hirst and B -sanquet together and they carried the total along to 295, w hen Jackson declared the innings closed, leaving the Australians 402 to win. Trumperwas caught when two on the board, and Duff was out at 36, Noble and Hill played steadilyand runs came very slowly, at 64 Hill was caught and Armstrong joined Noble. The new comer narrowly escaped . being bowled and also caught early in the innngs ; 117 was on sheet when Armstrong retired. Darling 8; and Hopkins fell victims to B'.ythe 6 for 152. Gregory ai d Noble carried the total to within an ace of the second century when the latter was stumped-
