Te Aroha School Committee.

A meeting of the Te - Aroha School Committee was held on Saturday evening last, when there were present :—Messrs T Mclndoe, (chain ian) G Sherlock, J B Johnson, J St a; ley. Rev E M Cowie, Eev Blight, and W Bill (secretary). The minutes of the previous mee ig were read and confirmed.

Cleaning School The follow ng tenders were received for clean ng the School: M Everitt, £lB 10s ; W White, £18; aud M Gillett, £l6 1 is. On the motion of Mr Johnson second id by MrCowie the lowest tender (Gibe s} was accepted.

School Books.—With reference to the recent complaints as to the frequency in changing school books, the Board of Education wrote wantiug to be supplied with details.—-The head- ! master is to be asked to submit a re* j port of the changes made in school! books during the last three years. ] School Grounds.—The plans and i specification (by Mr Pavitt) of the j proposed improvement’s in the school i grounds, were submitted and approved.—The Engineer to call for tenders, returnable on 17th May. The Visiting Committee, Chairman and Engineer to accept tenders. Tarring.—On the motion of Mr Johnson seconded by Mr Blight, the secretary was instructed to write to the Board of Education pointing out the urgency for sending a man for tarring and that the Visiting Committee see to the formation of a path from the front gate to the asphalt. The Visiting Committee and Mr Stanley to report on proposed scheme for laying out flower beds. On the motion of Mr Cowie, seconded by Mr Johnsen, it was decided that all ordering of material be done by the chairman or secretary.

Accounts. Messrs Johnson and Wigg Is 6d, and P. Baine’s, £3 2s 4d, accounts were passed for payment.
