CRICKET MATCH.
TE AROHA v.. WAIHOIT. • After a lapse of several months our cricketers have- once more resumed' play. On Saturday last the Te Aroha and Waihou wielders of the willow met on the latter’s pitch.. The Te Aroha' team in charge of Captain Pavitt, left about 12.30 in one of Mr E. Gallagher’s four-horse brakes, Mr Glynn-Lewis being in charge of the ribbon?,, and it is. almost unnecessary to add, landed his passengers safely on the field of play shortly after 1 o’clock- A number of Te Aroha ladies also accompanied the team. The game insulted in an easy win for Te Aroha by an, innings and 26 runs. Waihou went in first facing the bowl-, ing of Biggs and Lewis, and. 4. wickets were down before a run was scored. The fielding of Te Aroha showed an improvement, as will be seen by the fact that no less than four of the. Waihou men, were, run, out. Messrs T. C. and R. Bell acted as umpires for Te Aroha.. Afternoon- tea was provided by Mesdanjes Aitken, Parr, Gregory,. Abbey, Cochrane and Misses Langford Parr and Hill, which was handed round; to all present in. a, most hospitable manner-. In the second innings Waihou knocked up a total; of 38 runs. At the close, of the game the usual cheers were called- for, special mention being made of the agreeable manner in, which they were looked after-by the ladies. Wathod;—let Innings-.
