Postmasters have received the following notice :—As officers despatchxhg mails for South Africa will in future make up a special mail for the New Zealand second contingent as well as the New Zealand first contingent, the public should address letters clearly to the No. 1 or No. 2 contingent as the case may be.
Mr E. B. Ross, late. stationmaster at Te Aroha, desires us to state that should he, through oversight, failed to have settled all monies owing by him, he will be much obliged if the accounts are sent in to Mr W. H. Wright.
Three horses will be sold at the Te Aroha Public Pound at 12 o’clock to-day.
The Te Aroht Goldfield School opened yesterday, after the Xmas and New Year holidays. An alteration has been made in the teaching staff, viz., Miss Goldsworthy has been transferred to Napier-street, Auckland, and Miss Graham appointed to Te Aroha.
Hot Springs Domain Board meet to-morrow evening.^Accounts should be sent in to-day. The America Tobacco Company of New Zealand, sent the following telegram recently to the Christchurch Press : “ Pleased to present 1001 b ‘ Old Judge ’ tobacco at the front free of cost.”

Meeting of A.O.F. on Thursday evening next, in the Lodge roam, opposite the Domain.
. .At last! was the cry that went forth last evening as a slight shower of rain made its appearance. Messrs Frith and Mackie, builders, are putting the finishing touches to Mr J. Eowe’s commodious butcher’s shop, opposite the Palace Hotel. The building is a credit to our .main street, and is fitted up with with all the accessories required by an up-to-date 1 knight of the cleaver.’ It is expected there will be a record attendance at the Te Aroha J.C. races on Saturday and Monday next, 10th and 12th inst. Excellent fields are entered for each event, and as the course is in good order, lovers of horseracing should have an enjoyable day’s outing. ;
The members of the Te Aroha Eifies go into camp this evening. In 'order to earn capitation it is imperative that ever man should go under canvas. . Dr Buckby, of Paeroa, announces that he will attend patients in Te Arolia, immediately on receipt of telegram or message.
