A RECORD ATTENDANCE. GBEAT SUCCESS.
Pleasa^*t were the faces of the mom bers of the Te Aroha Agricultural and Horticultural Society yesterday morning ulieu the dawn ushered in real Queen’s weather for the holding of their seventh annual show. The grounds use 1 for the purpose of fulfilling the ever-increasing number of entries for this popular annual festival were what is known as the Waihou Domain, situated on the western bank of the Woih u Diver, about half-a-mile bom To Aroha. The se'ectiou of this reserve for show pu poses was a wbe one on the sort of the Society, and a th nigh hundreds of sight-see. s, * xhibi ors, horses, vehic es of a 1 descrip tioiis, etc., we e on the ground, yet‘hero was am de r oiu for the re quirem mts of one and all. JLho show, m re espneiil'y from an agricu ura! point of view, was one of th - best he’d in the di-iH t since its inaugu ation. Dig entries were received for the h ti'ses an 1 livo pt ck departments, and the keen st interest manifested in the remit.
On f lio whole the judge’s verdict received the hull mark of the spectators, although in t least one ins auee loud disapprobation was hea-td. The Stow irds, arid in fact all connected wi r h the general management, worked hard to make the affair a sue* c ss.
The hortieul u"ul exhibits wore arti-tica ly arranged inside a spaci -us marquee pitched on the ground.
Both the excursion trains fom Th ones and Auckland were well patronised, and number wend d their way to the Show, whilo others spon their time leisurely in the Domain grounds. Mr E. Gallagher’s and Sinarlon Bros.’ coaches were busy plying to and from the grounds.
The Te Aroha Brass Band discoursed a varied prog oammo during the dav.
In this, as in many o her similar •gathe:ings, tho hulk <>f the work falls on the secretary, and we cannot but congratulate Mr Frol. Strang' 1 , who so ably.fills this position, on the sue cess which resulted from his arduous labour on this occasion. The following is a list of the successful prizc-iakers:— HORSES. Judge—J. S.
