EXCURSION TO ROTORUA.

PUBLIC MEETING. A public meeting was held in the Town Ha’l, on Thursday night, to appoint a coinmi tee to arrauge a school excursion to Rotorua. The meeting was largely attended, Mr W. H. Knock, convenor, takiug the chair, who expl lined the object, of the meeting, af er which he called upon Mr Rosa, station master, to explain the modus operandi re securing a special train for that purpose. A strong committee was elected to canvass the town for subscriptions, of which are the following:—Rev. McFarland, Wright, Knock, Hirst, 8. L. By grave, Salmon, Jas. Lavery, F. Lipsey, Hodgson, Bossons, J. Rowe, Robinson, W. Hetherington, Mace, Crombie, Miss Clough, and Mrs Crombie. Mr T. C. 8011, was appointed secretary. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting, after which the Committee met to discuss matters. It was decided that /a Committee meeting be held on Monday evening next, to appoint lady canvassers, also to ask the Mayor to declare it a publ : c holiday on day of excursion, probabe date being Ist Feb. (Thursday). The sum of £6 17s was collected from the committee. The meeting closed with the usual thanks. • .
