PAEROA; MARKET.
Messrs Mackay and Pratt, Auctioneers, report as follows in their Ohiuemuri markets for the week ending January 11th, 1900: A largo quantity, of fruit was received for his auction, over 100 cases of fruit bejgpg ole a red off. No Apridots were received for this sale and there is a* good demand for them. Tomatoes are also enquired for. The following priceSVwere realised : Apples ljd, lid, l'£d rv< >ud Id,/ peaches 3d, 2Jd, 2£d, 2£d, and 2d per lb ; peaches 6d to 9d per doz ; plums 2£d, 2sd, 2d and ljd per lb ; tomatoes 4d per lb ; onions lid per lb new kidney potatoes "4s to 4s 6d per fcwt.
About 400 head of cattle were yarded at Mr W. J. Hunter’s sale at Ohaupo on Tuesday last. Store cattle of all ages well “represented, and were a well bred, good conditioned lot.'. There was good competition for .young stock, but grown Bteers ware a trifle “dull of sale. Daily cowb close to profit made from £4 to £5 ; mixed yearlings, £1 14s to £1 15s; yearling heifers £l 13s ; yearfling steers £2 4s to £2 4s to £2 ss; to-month-old steers, £2 15s to £2 18s 6d. (These were a choice l<»t), Grown steer?, - £51.45; 3-yeat-old steers, £4 14s;' 2 i-y ear-old-stc eis £3 6s tu £3 15a; calves 18s to £1 2s; empty cows, sfc ro c , £2 5s to £2 15s ; fat cows £3 17s Gd to £4 ; 3 pens of sheep wore submitted. Merino wethers in wool brought 9s; and fat Lincoln ew«s, 10s 6d.
