Wesleyan Quarterly Meeting.

The Quarterly Meeting of the Upper Thames AVesleyan Circuit took place on Thursday Inst at the residence of Mr W. S. Allen, Annandale. About twenty representatives and a few lady visitors assembled from vari -us parts of the Circuit, and were entertained.- . by Mr and Mrs Allen in their hospitable style. The Local Preachers’, . meeting was held at 12 noon, and after dinner the Quarterly Meeting of Circuit officials took place at 2 o’clock, Rev. S. Griffith presiding. The following were also present: -Rev AY. Beckett, of AVaihi, who returned from a visit to his MBHUD home; Mr AV. Greensladb, stuaont from Prince Albert College, who has done effective work as a holiday supply during the past few weeksMessrs W l Tetley and J. C. Allen, Circuit Stewards, Mrs Messrs AV. Hetherington G. D ve\q H. Lawn, from Te Aroha; Messrs J. . Phillips Senr., R. Smith, J'. Reid, J. Bramley, A. Tetley, AV. Hamilton, fr- m Paeroa; Mr R. Tremb ith from AVaihi ; Messrs W. S. Allen, A. J. Loach; and H. Gaut, from Morrinsville. The members roll showed 17ft full members, 2 ou trial, and 24 junior members. The financial statement was prepared, and read by Mr J. C. Allen, and showed the income to be about £l7O, being somewhat below the expenditure. It was decided to recommend the appointment of a Circuit Collector at Karangahakei Very gratifying reports were piesentetWjf the Sunday Schools; and took place .re the appointment ' erf ‘official visitors’ to the schools. Ifr was ultimately decided to ask the Ministers to visit the schools as far as. possible once a quarter, and to supplement the report of the school officers.

Century Commemoration Fund r The report of the secretary, Rev 0. H.. Garland, showed that, so far, *£l2 000; had been promised ; it also urged a more effective house to house canvas throughout Methodism. Mr W. Hetherington presented the report fcrv this Circuit, which showed that £lßl had been promised, and £55 paidHe requested as early a payment ejj possible of the amoun's sß'scnbeSr It was resolved to appoint collectors for the fund whenever possible. It was announced th-t Rev C. H. Garland would visit the circuit on Feb. uary 18th, and following days, in the interests of the fund. The Circuit Stewards- and most of the Society Stewards and Pot>r Stewards wero re-elected for the ensuing year. Mr S. Irvin was elected. Society Steward at Golden Gross vice, Air A. Burgess, who has removed toTaranaki and who received cordial thanks for his services. The Morrinsville appointments were left for subsequent arrangement, Mr AV. Teti'Gy was elected to attend the March Conference, and Mr J. C.. Allen as his : •substitute; if necessary. It was resolved to urge strongly the early appointment of an additional agent. for the Circuit. An earnest spiritual conversation followed, during which it was decided to revive tho old-fashioned Methodist love-feasts. The question of the removal of the Paeroa minister to Karangahnke was postponed, for lack of time, to the next meeting, which will be held at Paeroa on March 29th. After the meeting, Miss Esther Allen took a photograph of the company, who were then summoned to tea, before rising fi om which a cordial vote of thanks was heartily carried to Mr and Mrs Allen for their kind hospitality. Mr J. O'. Allen aptly lodged the vote. At six o’clock most of the company left in one of Gallagher’s brakes, first; giving hearty cheers for their genialhost and hostess.
