WAITOA ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Waitoa Road Board was held at Morrinsville on Saturday last. Present: Messrs Farmer, Borrie, and Allen. Proposed by Mr Allen, seconded by Mr Borrie, that Mr. Farmer occupy the chair. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. The clerk reported that he had written to Mr Cadman re grant for drain at Te Aroha West. The following reply had been received stating that an estimate of the amount proposed to be spent must be sent in, and the Board’s engineer must meet Mr. Coates, the engineer for the Mines Department, when the grant would be forthcoming. Resolved, that a specification.be sent in at once. A letter was received asking that a drain near Mr Burke’s and Mrs Bradley’s farms be cleaned out. Decided, that the engineer inspect the drain and report the cost at next meeting, and also if it would benefit the road. Letter received from Mr Thomson, stating that he would not give a piece of land for a road unless the Board would do the fencing., [At this stage Mr Cliepmell arrived.] Resolved, that the Survey Department be written to asking them to forward a tracing of the road. Tho engineer reported that Mr Forrest had vvri.ten re Maungatapu Road, stating that he could not carry out the contract. Resolved, that he forfeit h|s deposit. The following tenders were received for this work:—W. Pevreal, £23 10s (accepted); R. Parr, £26. For tho contract on Stanley Road the following tenders were received : N. E. Mickleson, £2B (accepted) ; R. Parr, £3O 4s. For the contract on Lovegrove’s Road the following tenders weie received: —N. E. Mickleson, £7 lOs (accepted); Jas. Tattersull, £9 9s 6d. Resolved, that the engineer inspect tlus Piako Hoad and report. Mr. Thomas wrote stating that a road near Walton needed repairing. The engineer reported that this was being done. Mr Farmer sta f ed that Mr T. W. Phillips would give £5 towards the' making of a road to his section. Resolved, that the engineer inspect Knight’s Road. It was agreed to approach the Piako County Council re their indebtedness to the Board for the formation at the Wniorongomai bridge. The following accounts were passed for payment :—A. Bremner, £2 10s ; A. Br unner, jtm., £6 12s; W. Thomson, £10; F. Pavitt, £3 15s; E. Brokonshire, £2l 10s; S. Bellamy, £l2 10s; N. E. Mickleson, £ls 10s; R. Parr, £4 15s ; T. B. Leaman, £l.
