SHOOTING MATCH.
No 1 B ATT AT. IGF v No 2 BATTALION The non-commissioned ,officers of No. 2 Battalion journeyed to Auckland on Saturday last to fire the return match against the non commissioned officers of No. 1 Battalion. The match came off at the Mt. Eden Range on NewYear’s Day, and resulted in a win for the No. 2 Battalion by 117 points, Corpl F. M. Strange and Sergt AY. Muirigay, of To Aroha Rifles, making top scores for the winning team. The weather, though fine, was rather against ‘ dead in ’ shooting, on account of the strong south- west gluts of wind which prev iled throughout tho day. Noth with standing this some real good shooting was done. In the evening the visitors were entertained at a dinner" after which they wore taken to the opera house. The To Aroha ‘reps’ returned home on Tuesday evening, and expressed thomselves as having thoroughly enjoyed their trip. Lieut Brown, of Paeroa, was in command of No.. 2 (cam. -Ulio following are the scores : No. 2 Battalion.
