Mr Spooner's Imprisonment.

: ' Auckland, July 15. A petition to the Minister of Justice praying for remission of the sentence passed on Mr Charles Spooner, for publication of a leaflet to which his imprint was not attached, is being signed, and Was forwarded to Wellington yesterday. It is set out that Mr Spooner has already served nine days' imprisonment, and the petitioners pray for the remission of the remainder of the term, it being urged that his offence was merely a technical one.
