[By'Drop Kick.] MORRINSVILLE v. TE AROETAr TE AROHA AGAIN VICTOEOUS. Once more the blue and whites of Te Aroha have proved themselves ‘the superior team, by easily beating Mofrinsville on Saturday last, by some 15 points to nil—-5 tries, go goals being registered. The played in Lipsey’s paddock, and a huge number of spectators wore present to witness the struggle. The Morrinsville boys, I understand, ware unable to. put their best team in the field. The play was of an uninteresting character, Te Aroha having it all their own way. I was pleased to observe that more passing was indulged in during this match than has been formerly the case ; the skipper,’ A. Lipsey, encouraging the men in this form of play. Tries were secured for la Aroha by Evitt, Comes, Buchan, Lipsey (2). Mr H» F. Gotz acted as referee, and Messrs F. Lipsey and H. Keesing line umpires. The visitors were entertained in the evening at the Palace Hotel, where a social evening was spent. The Morrinsville and Waihou school boys played a friendly game on Saturday last, on the former’s ground, and after a good game the Waihou boys won by 8 points to 3. Tries were secured for the winning team- by Willie and Arthur Aitken, one of which the former converted. Pickett kicked a goal from a free kick for Morrinsville. Mr A. Forrest, had charge of the game and gave every satisfaction. ’MAMES v. AUCKLAND. / Thames Victorious. This contest took place on Saturday afternoon at Potter’s Paddock, and ended, contrary to anticipations on the part of football en husiasts, in the downfall of the Auckland representatives. The grandstand was full to overflowing of spectators, and the ground fences were also lined. Altogether there must have been between 3500 and 4000 persons present. The game was interesting, aud particularly so in the second spell. Good forward rushes gave the visitors all their advantages, and it was in this department the home team beaten, but the backs being superior to the visitors. The feature of tho a remarkable run made by Asher, who at times seemed to bear a charmed life, and effected what apijpared to be impossibilities. The Thames won by 19 points to 13.
Hamilton, Saturday. The inter-union match, Waikato v Waipa, was rather uninteresting as far a? play was concerned. After an even gamo Waikato won by 11 to 6.
Paeroa, Saturday. The Pugby Union contest for the cup was continued at Waitekauri to* day, wheu Waitekauri and Pae.oa tried conclusions. After a good game, the former won by 4 points (a goal from the field).
