Educational Notes
The action of the Education Board in ignoring: so pointed'y the expressed wishes of the people of Te Aroha West and Manawaru in the matter of making provision for the education of the children in those thriving districts is causing a good deal of dissatisfaction. Some are in favour of depntationising the Board on the subject, an effective method of getting at it, generally speaking; but we think a widely signed memorial would serve to reopen the question. To supply the Auckland Provincial District with schools has, we know, severely taxed the resources of the Board, but when the wants of every gumfield, au industry about which there can be no permanency, are being met in this respect, surely suoh purely agricultural districts as Te Aroha TV est and Manawaru are entitled to greater consideration.
We notice in the Board of Education’s report for June, that Miss Mabel E. Com way has been appointed pupil teacher to the Te Aroha school. After considering application for a new new school at Mana- . warn, the Board decided that the Te Aroha. West school should be removed to a moro central point, so as to meet the requirements of the Mauawaru children.
