HOW SPANIARDS FIGHT. AMERICAN MARINES STRIPPED AND HACKED TO PIECES. Washington, June 14. The bodies of some of the American marines landed by the United States cruiser Marble-head, and who were killed in the attack made upon them by Spaniards, have been found stripped of all clothing and hacked to pieces. AMERICAN CRUISER ASHORE. : FLOATED WITHOUT DAMAGE The American cruiser San Frsaacisco went ashore during a fog off Highland * light, Massachusets, but was floated again without having sustained any damage. London, June 14. The ‘ Standard ’ states that if the American Senate obstructs the annexation of Hawaii by the United States, it is believed that President McKinley will act on his own initiative and annex the territory. GERMANY AND THE PHILLIPINES. FOUR WARSHIPS IN THE GROUP The admission prevails in Singapore (one of the Strait settlements belonging to Britain) that the German Government have designs upon the Sulu Archipelage, a group of about sixty islands in the Malay Archipelago, between the Phillipines and the northeastern ‘'extremity of Borneo. These islands were long noted for piracy, and are under Spanish protection, \Mt" is administered by native rulers. Four German warships are now at the Phillipines with three thousancLseamen onboard.
