Town Board.

Com Gallagher thought th) work should be held over till me spring, as the wet weather would soon be on us and render the road impassable. Com Bygrave favoured the idea of going on with tho work at once, as there were a number of idle men about, and he thought it was the Board’s duty to undertake the work, ind so provide s >me of them with an pportuuity of ean ing some money, iho Chairman agreed with this, alii ugh he thought all the members vvouitl admit that 'he winter time was not the. best ] stait'ng road foimdion work, the same time he thought the Board should spend ihe money with a view, to circulate s nu money in the town during the wmtjr months. If left in its present state the road would be impassable in he wet weather, so that if it was unfitted for traffic through the new work being undertaken, nobody would be greatly inconvenienced. For these reasons he was in favour of the work being done at onoe. It was agreed that members should go over the street with the engineer (Mr Pavitt) in order that they may- satisfy themselves that the plans provided for the work being done in the best manner. After this has been done, tenders for the woik will be called.

Lamplighting. —.Attention having been dr* wn to the fact that the lamps were not lit early enough at nights. The Clerk was instructed to write to the contractor (G. Bygrave) that unless he lights the lamps according to specification his contract will be terminated.

Finance.—The Clerk submitted the following statement of the Board’s finances.: Credit balance from previous month £302 15s 5d ; cash in hand £8 1 Is; balance, £3ll 6s sd; less accounts owing 7s 3d; credit balance at date £246M9s 2d.

Accounts.—The fol owing accounts were passed for payment; P. Snewin £8 18s 3d ; R Michael £8 8s , Whitten £2 2s ; Parr £lO 12s 9d ; Times £2 6s ; Parr £8 8s 9s ; Bossons £4 19s; Bygrave £9 12s 6d
