Formation of 'Rewi Street.-Plans a; d specifications- were forwarded for cl ii work, and some discussion ensued •is to whether the work should be gone on wiih. Com Gallagher thought th) work should be held over till me spring, as the wet weather would soon be on us and render the road impassable. Com Bygrave favoured the idea of going on with tho work at once, as there were a number of idle men about, and he thought it was the Board’s duty to undertake the work, ind so provide s >me of them with an pportuuity of ean ing some money, iho Chairman agreed with this, alii ugh he thought all the members vvouitl admit that 'he winter time was not the. best ] stait'ng road foimdion work, the same time he thought the Board should spend ihe money with a view, to circulate s nu money in the town during the wmtjr months. If left in its present state the road would be impassable in he wet weather, so that if it was unfitted for traffic through the new work being undertaken, nobody would be greatly inconvenienced. For these reasons he was in favour of the work being done at onoe.
