Manawaru.
(From our own Correspondent.) The leadership of the Bible Class at Te Aroha West was taken on Sunday by Mr Allen, of Te Aroha. -Although it was the first time he has p§id us a visit it is to be hoped it will not be the last, as he is a young man of great promise, and some of the remarks he made were both forcible and to the point, particularly the comparison he drew from the drone bees. Our old superintendent, Mr Devey, is much missed, and it is to be sincerely hoped be will be well enough to accompany Mr Allen next Wednesday night, along with other friends from To Aroha.
We experienced a very heavy gale Thursday night with much rain, which continued nearly all day Friday. It must have put the finishing touch to the swamp fires, besides making plenty of water in the drains for the cattle.
